In the field of contemporary art, there are women artists who are committed to innovation and pushing the boundaries of artistic expression to new heights. Mrs. Darmini is one among them. She is a full-time artist based out of Madurai (Tamil Nadu). A graduate of Raviraj College of Fine Arts (Affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. J Jayalalithaa Music and Fine Arts University), trained under renowned artist Mr. Raviraj.
She is inspired by the traditions of Madurai, and this project starts with ‘Madurai Marvels’. In it, she explores her paintings emphasizing the heritage values of Madurai in a traditional perspective, creating a recognizable personal style.
The range of themes in her exhibitions reflects her active mind and keen spirit of exploration. It is her conviction that the realm of painting should go beyond creating a visual document and should reflect the character of the subject.
